EASTON — The Easton Food Pantry will provide 170 free Thanksgiving meals this week thanks to a $16,000 donation from a local company inspired by a town resident.
"With the coronavirus and so many families not working, (food) is the last thing they should have to worry about and a having a meal on a holiday," said Stephanie Austin, Easton resident who had the idea to sponsor Thanksgiving meals.
Every year she sponsors a family for Thanksgiving and Christmas, and this year she thought about the Easton Food Pantry.
She reached out to Director Ken Wood about giving $100 to sponsor dinner for a family in need on Thanksgiving. Wood told her that it wouldn't be fair if only one family received a dinner and at least 160 dinners would be needed to meet the need in the community.
Inspired by Austin, the Rothwell Family of Inspired Technology, based in Easton, donated $16,000 to the pantry — enough to sponsor 160 dinners.
